Schools’ Academy Trust Warns Of ‘Tough Choices’
Written by HFM News on 9th May 2019
A schools’ Academy Trust says it will face tough choices and difficult decisions over the next few years because of funding pressures.
Discovery School Academy Trust runs Farndon Fields in Market Harborough and Kibworth Primary Schools, plus 11 others across Leicestershire and Rutland.
It says increasing staff costs because of wage rises and pension contributions aren’t being met by central government funding and schools are finding it increasingly difficult to balance their budgets.
CEO Paul Stone told Hfm there are real challenges ahead:
The Trust, which has issued a letter to parents of children at all of its schools this week, is asking them to help by using their school’s after school and holiday camps, supporting fundraising activities and urging them to write to their local MP calling for improved funding for schools.
