Dance-A-Thon Raises £900

Written by on 15th April 2019

A charity dance-a-thon in a support of a Market Harborough dance teacher battling cancer raised just short of £900 on Saturday.

Sophie Williams, who has been in isolation in hospital, even managed to a surprise visit to the Welland Park Academy to see some of it, after doctors took her off her drips and allowed her out for a few hours, ahead of major operation in just over a weeks’ time.

The event, together with on-line pledges has now raised over £2,000 in just over a week to support Sophie and her family.

It was initially launched to buy some kind of laptop/tablet computer with unlimited internet access, so Sophie, 48, owner of Ministry of Dance, can easily video-call her family and friends, as the hospital’s Wifi does not stretch to where she is.

The extra money will be used to put on a celebration party, once she has had the operation and has recovered.
