Environmental campaigners will hold a peaceful protest outside the HSBC Bank in Market Harborough on Saturday.
They will be taking part in the nationwide ‘Big Shift’ campaign, run by charity Christian Aid, which is pushing for less use of fossil fuels.
The campaign says HSBC is to invest billions in energy projects and continues to fund coal power in countries vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Members of the Churches Together in Harborough Justice and Peace Group will be joined by students in the action between 10am and 12noon, which follows a protest by Welland Park Academy Students outside the Council Offices last month, calling for more action on climate change locally.
They will be handing out leaflets to interested passers-by, and a letter will be given to the Bank’s duty manager for the attention of the Chief Executive Officer.
HSBC has been approached by Hfm for comment.
