Parish Council Resigns On-Mass

Hallaton has been left without a Parish Council after five out of the six members resigned, citing harassment, abuse and threats as the reason.
It’s over a row about the village’s proposed Neighbourhood Plan, which will set out where new homes will be built.
The councillors, some of whom have held positions for over 20 years, say a small number of villagers have subjected them to ‘nasty verbal and written attacks’ and their clerk even received a threatening phone call which was reported to Police.
The councilors were opposed to recommendations in the plan, which has been put together by a committee made up of members of the community.
