Anger Over Repair Delay

Questions are being asked why no work has taken place this week to complete repairs to a burst water main in Market Harborough.

Severn Trent started to fix the problem on The Broadway last week after serious flooding.

The company says it’s had to order in a specialist piece of equipment needed to complete the work that they call complicated, and that is due to arrive later today.

No workers have been there since Saturday with the road still shut with a large hole in the middle of it.

The owner of the Connaught Road Post Office also says the closure is impacting his business, with drivers not easily able to get to his shop.

Local councillor Barbara Johnson says it’s not good enough:

Severn Trent are apologising for the inconvenience being caused and their priority is to ensure water supplies remain unaffected.

A spokesman told Hfm: “Our teams started repairing the burst water pipe on The Broadway in Market Harborough, but to complete this complicated repair, we need specialist equipment made.

“We’re really sorry again for the inconvenience, but our priority is to ensure our customers water remains unaffected, and we’ll be doing everything we can to complete repairs and get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.
