Water Leak Is ‘Safety Risk’
Written by HFM News on 22nd January 2019
Residents say a water leak on The Broadway in Market Harborough is a safety risk after a car skidded this morning and pedestrians slipped on ice.
The water, which has been pouring down part of the road and areas of pavement for over a week, froze in places overnight.
People living there say Severn Trent Water are not taking the issue seriously enough as no attempts have yet been made to fix it.
Cllr Barbara Johnson is one of those who has complained to the firm:
Despite the concerns, Severn Trent have told Hfm work to fix the leak is not scheduled to start until Monday.
A spokesman said: “Our engineers are currently working to fix a water leak on The Broadway. Work to repair the pipe is scheduled to start on Monday 28 January. Our teams will be working hard to make sure it is fixed as soon as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.”
