Cottage Hospital Demolition Delayed

The start of work to demolish Market Harborough’s former Cottage Hospital is facing delay.

Bulldozers were due to move onto the Coventry Road site this month, although developers are still waiting for the final go-ahead to be given by Harborough Council.
That relates to confirming arrangements for the protection of the World War One Memorial and Portico during the demolition and construction work.
It will be incorporated in its current position into a new 70-bedroom care home that will be built on the site.

Sterling Rose Care won planning permission for the re-development after buying the site off the NHS last year for £1.35m, following the hospital closing and services being transferred to St Luke’s in 2017.
