Written by on 11th October 2024

Market Harborough’s Animal Food Bank has provided its 10,000th meal as it marks its seventh anniversary.

Dogz Dinner was the first food bank dedicated to animals to launch in the UK and helps owners struggling to afford to feed their dogs and cats, thanks to generous donations from members of the public.

It also provides food to local animal shelters.

Dogz Dinner is also now able to help some people with vet bills and has recently been awarded a grant from the Market Harborough and the Bowdens Charity.

It will enable the purchase a computer to keep records and produce podcasts to highlight its work and that of animal shelters.

Lisa Parratt set-up and runs the animal foodbank with a dedicated team of volunteers.

She told HFM demand for the service is higher than ever and the support from the community is amazing, which has prevented some owners from being forced to give up their pets.

Donation points for dog and cat food are located outside 2 Rupert Road and 93 Meadow Street in Market Harborough.
