Appeal After Fatal Crash In Desborough

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Desborough yesterday.

The driver of a silver Subaru – a man aged in his 60s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, after leaving the road and colliding with a tree at the junction of Dunkirk Avenue and St Giles Close.

It happened at about 4pm and no other vehicles were involved.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the incident along with East Midlands Ambulance Service and an Air Ambulance crew.

Emergency services at the incident

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival at the scene firefighters found one vehicle had collided with a tree and the driver was receiving emergency first aid from a member of the public.

“The crew took over medical treatment until EMAS arrived. Crews made the scene safe and provided a privacy screen and lighting to allow paramedics to continue to treat the casualty.

“They remained at the scene until just after 5.00pm handing the incident over to Police and Ambulance service.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage of the car travelling along Dunkirk Avenue prior to the collision, or footage of the collision itself.
