vaseA vase bought for £20 at a car-boot sale has sold at auction in Market Harborough for over £21,000 today!

The 1950s ceramic vase was made by German Hans Coper, who is regarded as one of the best craftsmen of the 20th century in the world of pottery.

The anonymous seller bought it in the early 1990s, but only recently spotted Coper’s signature on the base and realised how valuable it was.

Gildings Auctioneers had expected the vase to fetch up to £8,000, although it sold for £21,960 – with an International UK-based collector buying it.

The seller is said to be ‘flabbergasted’ !
