There has been a 14% increase in crime across Harborough in the past year.
4252 were reported in the District in the year to the end of March – 533 more than the previous 12 months.
Vehicle thefts nearly doubled – with 126 stolen, 348 assaults were reported – an increase of 78 – and there were 52 more thefts from shops, taking the number to 449.
637 burglaries were investigated – up by 39.
There was also an increase in Domestic Violence where someone was injured – rising from 78 to 123.
Reports of Anti Social Behaviour have dropped considerably though and there has also been a reduction in cycle theft.
Police say some of the increase is down to more people reporting incidents and changes to the way some crimes are recorded.
