HM The Queen's 90th Birthday Beacon

Around a thousand people turned out to watch a beacon being lit in Market Harborough on Thursday April 21st to mark the queen’s 90th birthday.

It was followed by fireworks at Harborough Town FC’s Bowden’s Park Ground as part of a big event that also raised money for the local Mad for Maddie Wishes on Wheels Appeal to help Harborough youngster Madison Brooks.

Chairman of Harborough Council Mike Rook lit the Beacon at 8pm - the same time as hundreds of others up and down the country were lit.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Andrew Grainger also read out a message to the crowd sent from Prince Charles.
