SwiMarathon Presentation Evening
The Rotary Club of Market Harborough made awards of grants to 31 local organisations, totalling £7,000. The event took place on Monday June 16th 2014. The money was raised from the SwiMarathon event held in April at Harborough Leisure Centre. Swimmers were sponsored and many local businesses also gave sponsorship.
This is the fourth year the Rotary Club of Market Harborough has been able to give away money to local worthy organisations.
The 2014 SwiMarathon involved 39 swimming teams from local businesses, schools and clubs, plus some Rotarians and their families and friends. Each team swam in one lane of the pool for one hour. The event spread over 2 days and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part!
The grants were advertised on HFM and in the Harborough Mail and Leicester Mercury. Applications for amounts up to £500 were invited. The grants were decided by a panel of five judges and ranged from £70 to £450. The club received 42 applications but were unable to support all of them.
There were also small prizes awarded to swimmers and individuals who had contributed to the success of the event. These were:
